Reflection for other radio plays

Group 1- Abdullah, Alieyah and Slava

In this audio recording, the voices of the characters have a very angry feeling. Everyone is constantly shouting in anger and it makes the surroundings very chaotic. Everyone in this group is very aggressive and mad. Nonetheless, they did use sound effects. In the background, you can faintly hear birds chirping and when it was needed, you could hear someone banging on the table to mimic the sound of a body falling on the ground.
Criteria A: 6/8
Criteria B: 5/8
Criteria C: 5/8
Criteria D: 7/8

Group 2- Farah, Khalid and Mony

In this audio recording, Khalid had a lot of "feeling" in his voice and his voice is calm and clear. Farah was the narrator and she stuttered a little bit whilst she was talking in the recording. Even though their voices were ok, they didn't have a reoccurring sound effect going on in the background.
Criteria A: 6/8
Criteria B: 5/8
Criteria C: 0/8
Criteria D: 7/8

Group 3-Kushi

In this audio recording, Kushi had to do it all by herself. She changed her pitch to differentiate between the characters. She also changed her accent to apply to the effect. Although she didn't put a reoccurring sound effect in the background, she did put a lot of sound effects in the background at the appropriate time.
Criteria A: 7/8
Criteria B: 6/8
Criteria C: 7/8
Criteria D: 7/8

Group 4-Anthony, Hamaad and Shoug

In this audio recording, I couldn't really hear the voices of Shoug and Hamaad as it wasn't really clear. Nonetheless, Hamaad had a lot of "feeling" in his voice and he really pushes it. There was a lot of pauses where there really shouldn't have been. This group did not put any sound effects in it to emphasize the feelings in the audio recording.
Criteria A: 6/8
Criteria B: 5/8
Criteria C: 0/8
Criteria D: 5/8

Using a script is better than a story for an audio recording because a script will be shorter than the actual story and by using a shorter piece of text, it will be less boring and more exciting. In the audio recording, I was the narrator. To be a good narrator, I changed my voice to sound different from my normal voice. I changed the pitch of my voice to make it slightly deeper and I also made it clear so that everyone can hear it clearly in the recording. My groups strengths were that we had good sound effects and we used it appropriately. We didn't put random sound effects at random times (e.g. Falling noise when a door is opening). We also could've improved our voices. Some people in my group didn't actually have their voice sound like the characters and they didn't have "feeling" in it.

Fairy Tale script and reflection

Script:
Script

Narrator: There was once was a family of bears.

Shoug: Papa bear
Juhani: Mama bear
Farah:  and baby bear

Narrator: they were all about to eat their lunch, but their porridge was too hot.

Juhani: Lets go for a short walk in the woods
Farah: yeah lets go
Shoug(in an annoyed voice): Fine

Narrator: just then a little girl named goldilocks came upon their house and hesitantly walked inside. She saw three bowls of porridge and went ahead and tasted all three.

Danish: This big one is too hot- this medium one is too cold but this small one, its just perfect.

Narrator: She finished the smallest bowl and felt very sleepy, she made her way around the house and entered the bedroom.

Danish: Ooh these chairs look amazing.

Narrator: She tried the first one

Danish: This is too hard

Narrator: She tried the second one

Danish: This is too soft

She tried the third one

Danish: This one is just perfect

Narrator: As she was getting comfortable in the third chair it broke so she went in the next room and fell fast asleep on the bed.

Just then the three bears came home to find their house in a mess.

Shouq: Someones been eating my porridge

Juhani: someones been eating my porridge

Farah: someones been eating my porridge

Narrator: The bears went into the next room and found goldilocks fast asleep.

Shoug: Who are you?

Narrator: when she awoke she was frightened

Danish: ahhhhhhhhhh

Narrator: she ran out the house and didnt stop till she came home

Reflection:
I think I could've improved this by making my voice a bit louder and clearer as I wasn't really clear in the recording. I also could've done a bit more sound effects to make the event a bit more realistic. In the recording, I should've altered my voice in such a way so that I could sound like a dad (older) and maybe even a bear.

Fairy Tale reflections

Snow White:

This group used sound effects to emphasize the feeling that they were trying to give out to the audience. They used the sound effects wisely because they made it sound like the thing that they were trying to do and by doing that, it really gave out the effect it should have given us. They used sound effects like water splashing in a bottle (shake a bottle filled with water). This group could have edited the video/sound better so that there wouldn't be any pauses. If I had this story, I would've made it the radio play/trailer shorter because it's not supposed to have the whole story, but it had to be a very short and quick summary of the story.

Jack and the beanstalk:

This group used sound effects to make sure that the listener/audience knows what the character is doing. The group used the sound effects wisely and effectively because I knew when the giant was getting off his bed. This group used a bag of chips as a sound effect for when the giant got off the bed. The group could've screamed less to make it more interesting to watch. If I had this story, I would've used more sound effects and less screaming/shouting.

Unit Reflection

In this unit, we learnt about conflict. I learnt a lot of things
In this unit, I did a scene with my group about child abuse. My scene consisted of s child (Shoug), a dad (me), a policewoman (Julia) and a mom (Sophia).
In this unit, I have used a freeze frame (in the child abuse video) when I stabbed a child with a knife.
I used my voice to show my character by acting slurry and bundling up my words to show that I was drunk. Sometimes, I trip to show that I can't walk properly as I'm drunk. I also walked with my back slouched backwards. Furthermore, I help out my hands as if I was looking out for walls that I could've bumped into.

Abuse video reflection

In class, we watched 3 music videos which focused on abuse. The first video was about domestic abuse, the second was on verbal abuse and the last one was about bullying.

The first music video was about a woman who heard screaming on the other side of the wall. She says that it would be pointless to call the police because they'd either come too late or not even come at all. The singer says that she couldn't sleep at nights because of all the screaming and shouting. She then says that one day, she hears loud screaming and a short while after, she hears a pound and then an ambulance.

The second music video was, again, about a woman who gets abused but this time, it's not domestic abuse but actually, it's verbal abuse. I didn't really understand the video as it was a bit confusing for me but I think she's saying she's being put down by her husband and occasionally being abused verbally by him. He always degrades her. Later in the video, I think she mentions how her husbands mother came and she then says something around the lines of: "And now it's your turn". Which means that it's her husbands turn to get abused. As I said, I did not understand this very well.

In the third and final song, it is a man who wrote a song about a child who suicided in the 19th century. The child gets bullied at school and he says that his parents give little to no knowledge of the bullying he gets at school. He then goes into the forest and has paintings hung up on trees. He goes to the forest to relax and be at peace because that was the only place where he wasn't getting bullied. He then goes to school one last time. The boy throws an apple to his teacher and proceeds to take out a gun and kills himself with it. Blood splatters onto his classmates.

Reflection on believable conflict acting

During the lesson, my classmates and I got into groups (numbers vary) and acted out a word that was given to us. The word was a part of a poem that was shown and read out loud in the class. My group (Slava, Khalid and I) were give the word abomination. The conflict in our act was between an abomination that was created in a test lab and the scientists who accidentally created it. I think my group were not really realistic because we had a human turn into a monster but from that, everything else was fine and normal.
